Getting my new iPhone 3G

So I waited for the 3G to come out before taking the plunge.  I'm glad I did, but sort of feel a little behind the curve a little.  One of my co-workers got one right when they came out, bought it online and then unlocked it.  Then applied an update and bricked it.  So he bought another and signed an AT&T contract on it.  I guess a few months later they made an un-bricker that he used, and promptly sold it to a friend.

Fast forward to September 09.  I was leaving for Las Vegas to attend Vmworld 2009 and had been talking to my boss about an iPhone for a few months.  He told me to pull the trigger and go get one from the AT&T store.  I got one, activated it in the store and ported my number.  It took a day or so for the porting to complete, but it went pretty smoothly.  I was the proud owner of an iPhone 3G.
